Menard Electric Cooperative Board Secretary Mike Patrick and General Manager Alisha Anker presented a $4,000 donation to volunteers of the Local County Fair Association on Sunday, July 29th as the group made final preparations for the fair, held this week.
The Logan County Fair was chosen as a recipient this year of CoBank’s Sharing Success program, which matches a donation made by Menard Electric to organizations chosen yearly by the co-op’s Board of Directors. Menard Electric is a member of CoBank, a cooperative lending facility.
The donated funds will be used towards updating the lighting at the fairgrounds within the grandstand and throughout the grounds.
“Menard Electric is happy to be able to partner with CoBank to provide the funds. Even though we do not provide electric service to the grounds, many of our members attend the large number of events held here throughout the year,” says General Manager Alisha Anker. Non-fair events at the grounds have recently included stock car racing, farmers markets, public auctions and sales, recycling services, and private events.
