Menard Electric Cooperative (MEC) and CoBank have joined forces again this year to provide donations to community service entities as part of CoBank’s Sharing Success Program. As a member of CoBank the cooperative can nominate organizations for a matching donation.
The Citizens for Positive Adolescent Choices (CPAC) received a $5,000 total donation (1/2 from MEC and 1/2 from CoBank) to be used for supply purchases, training, scholarships and more for their mentorship program supporting Illini Central School District sophomores.
The Petersburg Community Fire Protection District received a $10,000 total donation (1/2 from MEC and ½ from CoBank) to be used towards purchase of a self-contained breathing apparatus, a vital piece of personal protective equipment used by their 37 volunteers.
The Ashland Youth Association received a $5,000 total donation (1/2 from MEC and 1/2 from CoBank) to be used towards a building a second baseball/softball field for use by youth teams in Ashland and Chandlerville as well as AC Central's Junior High teams.
