Menard Electric Cooperative presented donations to area organizations as part of the Sharing Success Program co-sponsored by the cooperative and CoBank.
Menard Electric is a member of CoBank, a cooperative lending facility, who matched donations from Menard Electric Cooperative to charitable organizations chosen by the co-op’s Board of Directors.
“Menard Electric relies on CoBank as a financial partner and we are delighted to be able to extend this program into our communities,” says Menard Electric General Manager Alisha Anker. “In total, four organizations were chosen this year and a total of $15,000 in donations was made, one-half from the co-op and one-half from CoBank.”
Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL) was awarded a $6,250.00 donation to assist with the location’s food pantry co-op that added a site in Petersburg in July. The pantry is available to anyone in the county to shop a selection of fresh, frozen and pantry foods and other household supplies with points they earn by volunteering their time.
Central Illinois Services was awarded $2,000.00 for use in purchasing backpacks, calculators, binders and more for their Menard County Back to School Supply Program.
The Sangamon County Rescue Squad of volunteers was awarded $6,250.00 to be applied towards the purchase of a gently-used response vehicle that can be used at local disaster scenes. Squad members provide additional support to first responder agencies in Sangamon County and surrounding areas.
Virginia Christian Women’s Fellowship was awarded $500 to support a free lunch program providing five free lunches each week to 93 children in the Virginia School District during summer break.
