Three local high school students were awarded 2024 scholarships from Menard Electric Cooperative.
Cooperative General Manager Alisha Anker was honored to present awards to Drew Atwater and Daxton Trueblood from PORTA and Jack Harris from Athens High School.
This is the seventh year for the cooperative’s scholarship program, which awards three college scholarships each year and was open to seniors whose parent/legal guardian is an active member of the cooperative.
Scholarships were judged by a panel of impartial individuals chosen from within the electric cooperative industry but without direct ties to Menard Electric.
Anker noted, “One of Menard Electric’s core values is Commitment to Community and these scholarships represent a small part of that commitment. As such, one of the criteria is an emphasis on community involvements the student has made or realized in their life. Other criteria include school activities and a desire to continue their educational path.”
