Menard Electric Cooperative (MEC) and CoBank joined forces to provide donations to four community service entities as part of CoBank’s Sharing Success Program. MEC is a member of CoBank, a cooperative lending facility, who matched donations from the co-op to charitable organizations chosen by its Board of Directors.
The Ashland Fire Protection District serves Cass and Morgan counties; the $6,000 donation will aid in repair/replacement of the station roof. Pictured are MEC Director Gary Martin and General Manager Alisha Anker with Chief Tyler Lathom.
The Athens Area Food Pantry relies heavily on community donations to serve income eligible households in the Athens Community School District; a $4,000 donation will be used to purchase supplies from Central Illinois Food Bank as the number of families supported continues to grow. Camp CILCA (Central Illinois Lutheran Camp Association) has served youth each summer since 1950 and has a spring and fall educational program for students; a $4,000 donation will upgrade and purchase materials for its outdoor education program that is growing thanks to a newly hired program director. The Cooperative Family Fund supports children who experience the loss of a parent actively employed at an electric cooperative; a $6,000 donation will support this growing new organization.
