Co-op Month - 7 Guiding Principles

Every October since 1930, not-for-profit cooperatives of all kinds have recognized National Cooperative Month in October as a way to educate the public about how co-ops work and to appreciate their many members. We want to take this opportunity to highlight the seven cooperative principles that lead electric cooperatives like us to do business in a better way every single day.

Capital Credits - Help us find inactive members

In May 2016 our Board of Directors authorized a general retirement of capital credits earned in 1992 and a portion of 1993. Members currently receiving service who also had service during that time received a bill credit or check. (Remember, capital credits are the margins we earn that are allocated back to you each year because we are non-profit and member-owned.)

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) may be able to help you pay your electric bill. If you believe you may qualify for benefits we encourage you to contact your local office to see if you qualify to receive benefits. If you do, a one-time lump sum payment is paid directly to us on your behalf. Payment is based upon the number of people in your household and their combined 30-day gross monthly income. Below is information we have on hand regarding county office information and the dates you may call.

Capital Credits Recently Returned

The Board of Directors has approved a capital credit refund of $375,000. We’ve returned $8.6 million to date - It’s the Cooperative Difference!

We've recently issued bill credits and checks to current and former members for credits earned in 1992 and a portion of 1993. Current active members receiving credits less than $75 saw a credit on their June bill. Inactive members with credits over $5 and active members receiving credits larger than $75 received a check mailed to the address currently on file.

Proposed Resolution for Annual Meeting

General Manager Eric Hobbie will speak about a proposed resolution regarding the cooperative's debt ceiling limit at this year's annual meeting of members. Members will vote on this matter at the meeting. Hobbie has prepared a power point slide presentation to go along with his discussion to members. The slides are available here to help answer any questions you may have about the resolution. We encourage you to come to the annual meeting and hear Hobbie speak about the matter. If you'd like to discuss it prior to the meeting please give him a call at the office at (800) 872-1203.
